妻子と幸せに暮らしていた主人公は、ある日事故に遭って一命をとりとめたことをきっかけに、自分に正直に生きることを決意する。

恋に一筋なジム・キャリーが、自分の気持ちを伝えるためだけに刑務所を出たり入ったり。夢見る瞳のユアン・マクレガーが、彼の大胆不敵なアプローチに戸惑いつつも嬉しそうにはにかむ姿は、女性から見ても胸がきゅん。
映画監督の主人公のところへ、子供の頃に神学校で一緒だった親友が訪ねてきて、映画の脚本を置いていくが、そこには2人にしか知りえない秘密の過去が描かれていた。
その男は本当にその幼なじみなのか。彼の目的は一体何なのか。その謎を追いながら、劇中劇という形を通して現在と過去の出来事が交錯する。
野心のためなら何でもする男。過去の罪を背負ってボロボロになる男。命がけで復讐を果たそうとする男。ケタはすれの欲望と愛が男たちの運命を狂わせる。彼らの情熱を具現化したような鮮やかな色彩デザインにも目が釘づけ。
